Rickenbacker Job Fair August 27
Thursday August 21, 2008
Jobs are tough to find these days, so if you're looking visit the Columbus Area Job Fair on August 27, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rickenbacker International Airport's charter terminal. Over 30 employers are scheduled to participate and discuss job opportunities.
"Many companies in the Rickenbacker area are looking for employees this time of year
and we hope we can help the residents of central Ohio connect with them," said Lynn
Aspey, organizer of the job fair and Director of Business Relations at the Jewish
Family Services. "And now with COTA's new bus route to Rickenbacker starting
September 1, we are optimistic that job seekers will have transportation to the area
and find employment."
Job candidates are encouraged to dress appropriately, bring multiple resumes and be
prepared for on-the-spot interviews.
COTA is participating in the job fair in conjunction with COTA's new #50 Rickenbacker express that will provide weekday bus service from downtown to jobs in the Rickenbacker area.

Ahh...it's time again when the days are a little shorter, the air gets a little crisper, and....the entire Columbus metro area shuts down to watch football!
If you're counting down the days 'til the first "game" (or until the "Michigan game"), here's the official football schedule with links to more stuff. COTA will again provide bus service from the state fairgrounds to home games; visit www.cota.com for details.

Great Wall of China Not in Columbus
Monday August 18, 2008
The new Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau ad campaign tells us Columbus doesn't have the Eiffel Tower, or the Great Wall of China, but well, it does have some stuff.

Experience Columbus
Clever, but all that does in my mind is remind me that, oh yeah, there are more interesting places to go besides Columbus. Or am I missing the point? Leave your comments below.

Bucks Hold Open Practice on Monday
Thursday August 14, 2008
On Monday, August 18, 2008, gates will open at 6:30 p.m. at Ohio Stadium in Columbus for the Ohio State Buckeyes football team to hold a practice open to the public. Ohio State's public practice this year will not include an autograph session.
Last year, OSU allowed the first 10,000 fans at the practice on the field, and anyone who showed up made it, before the actual practice started. Fans lined up players stationed at different tables, with the longest lines in place for Jim Tressel and James Laurinaitis.
While this seemed like it worked pretty well to most observers, OSU officials decided not to allow it this year.
Admission is free. Those attending should park in the parking lots surrounding the Schottenstein Center. No food or drink will be allowed on the field at any time.
