Columbus Classic: Beechwold

Beechwold is generally defined as the area between I-71 and the Olentangy River on Columbus' north side. The northern and southern boundaries are more nebulous; the northern boundary is probably Morse Rd. and the southern boundary is probably Cooke/Henderson Rd.

It's been hard to find information about Beechwold history. Here is a listing of some interesting homes from around the Beechwold area with links to a photograph:

• 308 Cliffside Dr. This home was built in 1928 to reflect the steamship where the architect spent his honeymoon.
• 100 Montrose Way This 1932 house is typical of the shingle and brick found in Beechwold homes.
• 213 Webster Park Av. An original farmhouse from before the Beechwold area was developed.
• 160 Richards Rd. This 1923 Dutch colonial features an addition from 1980.
• 219 Riverview Park Dr. An English country home with a garage converted into a studio.
• 223 W. Beechwold Blvd. A 1929-built Spanish Mission style home tucked away among trees and brush.
