Where the New Money Is

The village of New Albany was laid out in 1837 by Noble Landon and William Yantes. Before the village was incorporated as New Albany in April, 1856 it was called Hope. The name New Albany may have been due to some residents coming from Albany, New York, but this is not certain.

In 1883 the town's population was 213; by the year 1908 it had grown to only 300 residents; and by the year 2000 it was still only 3,711 people. But don't let the numbers fool you: New Albany is the hot spot in the Columbus area, and surely a new census would show the figure well over the 5,000 mark.

Today New Albany is booming with new upscale housing, shopping, a new Route 161 bypass and more. The "new money" is here, and the upscale shopping mecca Easton is just a couple of exits away down 161. Here are links to more information about New Albany:
