Memories of Columbus: Cooper Stadium

Memories of Columbus Part 2

By John Kazalia, About.com

Well, I suppose it's inevitable now: the Columbus Clippers will move out of Cooper Stadium and into Nationwideviewwolfe Arena in the Arena District.

Your guide would like for everyone to share their memories of Cooper Stadium so we can remember it after they tear it down. I'll start:

In the mid 1980's I lived in a cheap apartment on W. Mound St. A cheap source of entertainment was Cooper Stadium and the Clippers just a mile or so down the street. I would ride the #3 Mound St. bus, pay (I think) just two bucks to get in, and have a great time. Dime a dog night was great (I was much younger and thinner then so I could blow a buck on dime-a-dogs. Now I'd have to stay within a quarter or so.)

Some nights there were promotions beforehand or fireworks after, and the view of downtown was great. I just can't imagine why this has to be torn down for something new.

What are your memories of Cooper Stadium? Submit them and I'll add your memories here.
